Given the pride we have in Route 66 and the
Mother Road, we would be remiss if we let the sun set on any day of our
Ride for the Relay without recognizing
Bob Waldmire, a free spirit we
lost December 16, 2009. Bob, himself embodied the spirit of
Route 66. His intricate maps and postcards did as much to immortalize
Route 66 as perhaps anything else in American culture.
Bob and his van were the inspiration for the character Fillmore in the movie
"Cars". I am sure that he will be holding on to his promise to me:
"Rog, I will be riding on a cloud with you all the way". So it looks
like Bob will be the first of the
"All the way Gang 2010", Bob we miss you.
