Index Would you like to share a room 2010?
This will be information that you and I think might be helpful to all riders. It will be something like Tips for the Trip but different. Please help me in doing this page. Just go to the Guest Book and leave any information that is helpful.
1. On September 4th we will have a leader at the Doubletree Hotel to lead you to the Navy Pier (leaving the Hotel around 6 - 6:15am).
2. Riders at the Navy Pier will leave with the Leader at 7:am sharp. Don't be late because we always leave on time.
3. All Riders will meet at Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket. Patrick will be fixing breakfast for everyone and will probably charge about $5.
4. We will leave Dell Rhea's promptly at 9:am. The amount of riders will determined how we leave (all together or groups).
5. The night of September 5th we will have a party at the Route 66 Motel with everyone invited. It will be in the Arizona room with everyone ordering off the menu (no free lunches here) and music by Dr "H". He plays all different kind of music, you will love it. The party will start at 6:30 and be over by 9:30.
5a. We will be crossing the Chain of Rocks
Bridge.

5b. In St Louis we will be stopping at Ted Drewes
Custard. (did I mention that last year Ted Drew was there and took me inside and
personally fixed me a Hot Fudge Sundae at no charge)
The best ice
cream in the world.
6. September 6th we will be staying at Zeno's. This is a great motel and restaurant. We have a private dinning room and a fun meeting that night. Michael, the owner, has rode with us every year and we look forward to him riding with us again this year.
7. We will have a police escort into Springfield, MO and out of Springfield, MO.
7a. Springfield, MO should be a lot of fun. Our good friend Roy Steager has set this all up.
We have a very special place to eat right on Route 66, called Kentwood Hall.

It
looks like we will have a police escort into Springfield for lunch, then a
police escort out of town. I understand that a police escort out of town
is nothing new to some of you.
8. Joplin, MO (September 6) again Chris (manager of the Fairfield Inn where we stay) is planning a BB-Q again this year. Don't miss this, it has become and annual thing. I just talked to Chris and he is planning another great year for us. You will meet some very nice people and also some unusual people (Crazy Legs).
9. You will meet Tow Tater
"Tow Tater" is the 1951 International Boom truck that inspired the character
of "Tow Mater" in the movie Cars. The old
Kan-O-Tex service station at the north end of Galena's Main Street has been
purchased by 4 women from Galena: Betty Courtney, Melba Rigg, Renee Charles and
Judy Courtney. They are helping lead the rebirth of Galena's stretch of Historic
Route 66. That is where Tow Tater lives.
10. Our good friend in Tulsa (Eric Jones) is trying to get the new Mayor of Tulsa to come out and greet us. If everything works out this will all happen at the Cancer Treatment Center of America. I will be giving you more information on Tulsa as time gets closer.
11. The Murrah Federal Building Memorial is a must to
see in Oklahoma City.

12. The Grand Cayon is about 50 miles north of Route 66
but if you have not been there you must go. It is a wonderful site to see.
