To ride Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica in itself is a wonderful experience. When I started the trip last year I really thought it was all about Route 66 and the sites and the glitz and glitter of the attractions along the way. I was so wrong.
A friendly Security Guard at the Navy Pier in Chicago, a lady on a street corner in Joliet, 30 policeman (from Chicago) gathering in Springfield, Illinois for a September 11th tribute, a group of 15 bikers from Finland, two couples from France, the motel owners along the way, the couple that rode with me all the way to Victorville, California (Norm & Alice), I can't begin to tell you about the people along the way. Jim Conkle who started the Route 66 Federation, Bobby Unser (the race car driver) who always helps me with any fundraisers I do, I am telling you I could go on and on. The little lady in Oatman that ask if she could buy one of my pins, ever though I bought nothing in her shop.
This is all about the people. The loving, caring and sharing people. The people who want to make a difference. The people who are willing to help find a CURE.
When you travel Old Route 66, yes you do get your kicks and much much more.
Not only do you travel through 8 different states with these loving caring
people but you also get to travel in the very special STATE!
"The State of Mind"
July 19th, 2003 Sue and I were married. Early in our relationship we realized that we were both cancer survivors of 16 years (now it has been 22 years). We both wanted to give back some way, so we got involved in the "Relay For Life". This coming year will be our fourth year of having a team and raising money for the American Cancer Society. We have a "Prime Rib Banquet" each year on the Sunday before Valentine's Day. This has proved very successful along with different fund raisers that our Team does all year long. However, last year we wanted to double our fund raising and we did just that with the Route 66 trip as an added fundraiser. We raised over $8000 and that will be presented to the Relay for Life on June 29, 2007. The Route 66 Trip raised just over $4000. So this year we are setting our Route 66 goal at $10,000. Please help find a CURE and be a sponsor.

You can be involved in many different ways. Below is a list of the different types of Sponsorship's available.
