David and Faye Paul live in Beavercreek, Ohio. David worked for Chrysler Dayton Plant as a pipe fitter for 33 years. David retired in February, 1998. Faye worked for the Dayton Power and Light Company as an accountant for 38 years. Faye retired July, 2003, however she was rehired as a private contractor and worked until 2006. David and Faye have been married for 45 years and have one daughter, Chrystal. Chrystal lives in Beavercreek, Ohio with her husband Rick and two children, Stacy and Nicholas. In their own words: Dave and I each had motorcycles back in the 70’s. We rode for a few years and because of having a young daughter we decided to get rid of the motorcycles, so we sold them. Several years ago we saw a trike and really liked it. This started us thinking of getting back into riding, this time on a trike. So after thinking about it and encouragement from our daughter and son-n-law, we took the plunge, we have a trike. We have ridden to “Wings Over the Smokies” in Fletcher, NC, to “Spring Fling” in Pigeon Forge, TN, to Elkins, W VA to ride with a chapter there and several small trips. We had already made reservations for Cass, W. VA, and back to “Wings over the Smokies”, when we learned of the Ride for Relay. I talked with Rodger to get more information for next years ride as we thought it was to late for this year. Rodger said “It’s only to late if you wait”. After talking with him and learning what this ride is all about, we cancelled our previous plans and here we are. We have truly enjoyed every bit of this ride. It has been totally awesome. We have met so many nice people on this ride and Rodger is at the very Top. What he is doing is wonderful, and we are glad to be a part of it. Will we ride again next year? We sure would like to, although a lot can happen in a years time, so if we are not physically on the ride, we will be spiritually.
It was my pleasure to get to know David & Faye and watch them enjoy the ride and each other. After 45 years you can tell that the spark is still there. I do hope they will make the ride next year because I would like to get to know them better.
