Back to Dedications

Steve Conro has asked that the Chicago portion of the Ride for the Relay be dedicated Al.

Al Bergquist

Al Bergquist lost his fight with cancer Saturday morning August 29, 2009.
I am told that he was a cantankerous Old Coot who will be missed.

"When I said "cantankerous" I was thinking gung ho, big as life, out there.  After some grief I looked up the definition and it included difficult & irritating to deal with.  NOT WHAT I MEANT!  I meant that tongue in cheek and not literally.   To be more serious I would describe him a big spirited adventurous, lover of life.  A dedicated husband, father, grandfather & friend to many.  When you read of his different accomplishments you can't believe he squeezed all that into 75 years.  He will truly be missed."

Steve Conro has asked that the Chicago portion of the Ride for the Relay be dedicated Al.

Steve added the following:
He and his wife Joan would frequent our meetings and events.  I don't know a lot about him except he was a motorcycle racer back in the day. The old B&W photo's I've seen he looks like the Marlboro man except on a bike.  Well into his 70's he was still hard to keep up with on his TRIKE!
