September
17, 2006 9am Leaving San Bernardino, CA.
A big thank you to Jim Conkle (in white shirt). Jim is the founder and CEO of the Route 66 Preservation Foundation (www.cart66pg.org ) and General Manager of the "Route 66 Pulse"( www.route66pulse.com ) If you go to these web sites you will have a blast looking at all Jim and his staff has put together. I will be working with Jim for next years "Ride for the Relay" and will probably spent a few days with his organization in San Bernardino, CA at The 18th Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous. This is a huge car show or as Jim says "The Biggest".
Also a thank you to Satar A. Khajehmiraki General Manager of the Clarion Hotel & Convention Center for his hospitality and letting me present myself and my cause at his hotel. We will look forward to staying at the Clarion for a couple days next year.
Al Morrissette, Correspondent for Route 66 Pulse, is truly one nice guy. Thank you Al for taking all the picture and for the interview. I will watching for the article next month. Enjoy your trip east and keep Jim in line.
Holding
the camera is Donald H. Randell, Videographer/Producer-Director, for Randell
Network Productions. Randell and his staff were doing a documentary on the
Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous and included me and my cause in his film.
I don't believe I will become movie star just yet but I hope I got my message
across on finding a CURE.
Some of California's fines on duty during the Rendezvous.
Mike Ward (Board Member) and wife Sharon joined Jim and I for lunch. It was just a great time getting to know all these people.
Christel Dreier of Rialto, CA sold pins for me while I was having lunch. I can truly say that she sold more for me than anyone and I can also say that she bought more pins than anyone on the trip. Thank you Christel for all you help and the hugs.
My bike in front of the Clarion Hotel.
This is Dave & Melody Miller. They bought pins and ask a million questions about the CURE, my ride and motorcycling. I got a really nice eMail from them last night. Thanks guys and keep in tough.
This was end of my Route 66 ride in Santa Monica, CA. I am parked at the Comfort Inn Motel. Understand that the trip is not over, just the Route 66 part. Now I head back toward home spreading the word. I have driven 2736 miles since I left home on September 8.
