September 10, 2006 9am Leaving Springfield, Illinois.
I want to take a minute and thank everyone for being so nice. Several
members from our motorcycle clubs come out and said hello. There was a
group of Policemen from Chicago staying at Route 66 Motel. They were in
Springfield for the 9-11 memorial on Sunday. Most of the
patrolmen bought a pin. You will see some of them in the pictures
below. A very special thanks to my wife who rode from Springfield to
Litchfield with me. I want to thank her mom & dad for following along and
picking her up in Litchfield. My son-in-law Brock Hileman, brother-in-law
Larry Renoud, Ronald & Judith Brown and Larry Ritchie rode most of the trip down
to St. Louis. Thank you everyone. From St. Louis to Springfield,
Missouri I would like to say was quite a challenge, Missouri doesn't mark Old 66
quite as good as Illinois did.

Route 66 motel in Springfield, Illinois were family and friends gathered to help
find a CURE and to see me off.

Crossing
the Chain of Rocks Bridge. We felt really special.

This
is a Route 66 Landmark in Villa Ridge, Missouri where I had lunch.

This
is a group of bikers from Finland that I rode with for several miles. They
all flew to Chicago, rented bikes and with the help of a tour guide from Texas
is riding Old Route 66 to Santa Monica. So I will probably see this group
again.

This
is Cuba, Missouri and it is just a really neat town. There were several
buildings with painting on the sides and much Route memorabilia. This town
is a must see.
